You read that headline right, pal: Nintendo is bringing back the NES. Only a lot smaller.
It’s a replica Nintendo Entertainment System?
Yes, a tiny one, and it’s designed to hook up to your HDTV via an HDMI cable. It’s powered by USB, comes with a classic controller and – here’s the best bit – there are 30 games pre-installed.
Here’s the full list, and as you can see it includes some truly legendary titles:
Balloon Fight Bubble Bobble Castlevania Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Jr. Double Dragon II: The Revenge Dr. Mario Excitebike Final Fantasy Galaga Ghosts ’n Goblins Gradius Ice Climber Kid Icarus Kirby’s Adventure Mario Bros. Mega Man 2 Metroid Ninja Gaiden Pac-Man Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream StarTropics Super C Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros. 2 Super Mario Bros. 3 Tecmo Bowl The Legend of Zelda Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Some of these are two-player games…
Yep, and don’t worry: you can buy a second controller, or use the Wii’s Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro, if you have them.
I want it. Now. What’s the price and when’s it out?
Sadly, you’re going to have to hold your horses for a while – it’s not going on sale until 11 November. And the Australian price is $99.95, with extra controllers costing $19.95. Not a bad price to immerse yourself in several weeks’ worth of retro gaming delight, eh?
