Queensland’s Defiant Development may be best known for video games, but it’s just now expanding into tabletop gaming, with a new boardgame based on its title Hand of Fate.
Hand of Fate: Ordeals has just launched today on Kickstarter, though Defiant has already promised the game will be released regardless of the Kickstarter results, which is neat. The funds raised – and the game has already made $58,000, well above its $30,000 target – merely go to into expanding the game’s distribution to as wide an audience as possible.
The game itself is a deck-building dungeon crawler, and can be played solo, co-operatively, or competitively. It features a main board, individual game boards for each player, and five rather lovely plastic figures.
The game is a collaboration between original developer Defiant Gaming, and tabletop specialist Rule & Make. Hand of Fate: Ordeals is planned for a November 2017 release date.
